  • ·         Tune in to tomorrow’s episode of The Sonnyside of the Farm to hear from Jon Entine of @GeneticLiteracy – talking how innovation in agriculture is necessary to produce enough healthy food to feed the growing world
  • ·         More than 130 specialty crops are eligible for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. @USDA is accepting applications through September 11. http://farmers.gov/cfap/specialty

@FDAfood

  • ·         ICYMI: @US_FDA & @OSHA_DOL have a thorough checklist for FDA-regulated human & animal food operations to use when assessing operations during the #COVID19 pandemic, especially when re-starting  operations after a shut down or when reassessing operations.  https://go.usa.gov/xfuET
  • ·         CLEAN is the first step to keeping your family safer from food poisoning. This National #FoodSafetyEducationMonth, take time to learn how to properly clean your hands, cooking surfaces, utensils, and produce. Learn more about this food safety step: https://go.usa.gov/xfApm
  • ·         SEPARATE is the second step to keeping your family safer from food poisoning. Separate raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs from other foods in your grocery shopping cart, grocery bags, and refrigerator. Learn more about this food safety step: https://go.usa.gov/xfApm
  • ·         COOK is the third step to keeping your family safer from food poisoning. The color and texture of food can be deceiving. Use a food thermometer to ensure foods are cooked to safe temperatures. Learn more about this food safety step: https://go.usa.gov/xfApm
  • ·         CHILL is the fourth step to keeping your family safer from food poisoning. Refrigerate food within 2 hours of cooking or purchasing. Refrigerate within 1 hour if the temperature outside is above 90° F. Learn more about this food safety step: https://go.usa.gov/xfApm

@SteveFDA

  • ·         We are now planning for meetings of our Vaccine Advisory Committee. This is an independent group of experts who will review #COVID19 vaccine candidate data carefully and give @US_FDA advice.
  • ·         All meetings will be public. There also is an opportunity for the public to provide open comments.
  • ·         The meetings will reinforce the transparency of the process as FDA reviews data from trials now underway. The entire FDA scientific and medical staff is firmly committed to an objective review of the data.
  • ·         We all recognize that the public will have confidence in our decisions only if they are supported by the science. My personal commitment is to assure that all decisions meet FDA’s standard. The patient and the public always come first.
