@SteveFDA
- · We are now planning for meetings of our Vaccine Advisory Committee. This is an independent group of experts who will review #COVID19 vaccine candidate data carefully and give @US_FDA advice.
- · All meetings will be public. There also is an opportunity for the public to provide open comments.
- · The meetings will reinforce the transparency of the process as FDA reviews data from trials now underway. The entire FDA scientific and medical staff is firmly committed to an objective review of the data.
- · We all recognize that the public will have confidence in our decisions only if they are supported by the science. My personal commitment is to assure that all decisions meet FDA’s standard. The patient and the public always come first.

- · As part of our New Era of #SmarterFoodSafety, FDA recently completed a proof-of-concept that demonstrates leveraging AI for import screening could almost triple the likelihood that we will identify a shipment containing products of public health concern. https://gcn.com/articles/2020/09/02/fda-ai-fish-import-screening.aspx
- · Based on these results, we’re moving forward with the next phase of the pilot. Again, we’re not talking about things that can’t be done. They’re already happening. #SmarterFoodSafety https://www.fda.gov/news-events/fda-voices/import-screening-pilot-unleashes-power-data-and-leverages-artificial-intelligence
