  • Mega-Mergers Are As Guilty As The Pandemic For Our Broken Food Supply Chain

@FrankYiannasFDA

@SteveFDA

  • FDA and @USDA released recommendations to help address shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE), cloth face coverings, disinfectants, and sanitation supplies in the food and agriculture industry during the #COVID19 pandemic.
  • To help minimize the impact of supply chain disruptions on product availability during the #COVID19 pandemic, FDA is providing additional temporary flexibility in food labeling requirements to manufacturers and vending machine operators. https://www.fda.gov/food/cfsan-constituent-updates/fda-announces-temporary-flexibility-policy-regarding-certain-labeling-requirements-foods-humans …
  • First, FDA is providing flexibility for manufacturers to make minor formulation changes in certain circumstances without making conforming label changes, such as changing product ingredients without updating the ingredient list on a packaged food when a minor change is made.
  • Second, FDA is providing temporary flexibility to the vending machine industry and will not object if covered operators do not meet vending machine labeling requirements to provide calorie information for foods sold in vending machines during the #COVID19 pandemic.
