Secretary Perdue Statement on Coronavirus Rescue Package
@FrankYiannasFDA
- Root cause analysis leads to better prevention. I encourage public health agencies & food producers to review Pew’s new guide, train staffs on the principles in it & put it into practice — not only for outbreaks but also for near misses. https://pew.org/394r4FQ via @pewtrusts
- RT @pewhealth: How can a root cause analysis make our food safer? By helping producers understand where contamination originated and how to prevent similar foodborne illnesses from happening again–@FrankYiannasFDA explains
- RT @LGMAnews: “Consumers can be confident in the safety of their food. We will continue our efforts to make sure that they have access to the foods they need for themselves, their families (including their pets), and the animals our farmers raise.” @FrankYiannasFDA
- RT @CDC: #PetOwners: There’s no evidence that pets in the US can spread #COVID19 to people. The virus spreads mostly from person to person through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. See steps to protect your & your family’s health: http://bit.ly/33DJ8Wt .
- ALERT: FDA is investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to enoki mushrooms from Sun Hong Foods and Guan’s Mushrooms Co.. Consumers should not eat the affected product and throw it away. https://go.usa.gov/xdHVf
@FDAfood
- RT @DrMayneFDAFood: Reminder, the U.S. food supply remains safe. There is NO evidence of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Education is key to prevention & maintaining a safe, accessible food supply.
@SteveFDA
- We are in close contact with the human & animal food industry. Retail supply chains for both remain strong. We are working closely with food manufacturers & grocery stores to closely monitor both supply chains for potential shortages. https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/coronavirus-covid-19-update-fda-takes-further-steps-help-mitigate-supply-interruptions-food-and …
- While there are currently no widespread shortages of human or animal food, not being able to get certain groceries we need is largely due to increased demand & sometimes, getting food where it needs to go. Manufacturers & retailers are working around the clock to restock shelves.
- To further mitigate food shortages, we issued guidance to entities from food manufacturers to restaurants, giving them flexibility to sell some packaged foods not labeled for retail sale to consumers or other businesses without a Nutrition Facts label.
- We owe gratitude to food & agriculture sector workers filling critical roles within communities, working to serve their communities’ needs. These workers are crucial to community continuity & community resilience, as reinforced by @DHSgov guidance: https://www.cisa.gov/identifying-critical-infrastructure-during-covid-19 …
- Here’s an update on food safety and availability during the #COVID19 pandemic, sharing how FDA is working to make sure the foods you, your family, and your pets eat are safe and available.
@SecretarySonny
- Tune In: Discussing right now how we are delivering 1,000,000 meals a week with @McLaneGlobal, @PepsiCo, and @BaylorCoHP at today’s @WhiteHouse Coronavirus Task Force Press Briefing. Appreciate @realDonaldTrump’s leadership during this National Emergency
