- Food safety requires collaboration and is a shared responsibility. Today is #WorldSafetyDay and I am honored to provide opening remarks at @EHA_LTD and @nehaorg food safety event, which explores how regulators keep retail food safe across the globe. https://go.usa.gov/x6Wzx
- World Food Safety Day is a recognition that when it comes to food safety, we all win or lose together. It’s a commitment that we can win – no, that we MUST win – TOGETHER. #SmarterFoodSafety

@US_FDA
- Beech-Nut issued a voluntary recall of one lot of Beech-Nut Stage 1, Single Grain Rice Cereal with expiration date 5/1/22 (product codes 103470XXXX & 093470XXXX) with elevated levels of inorganic arsenic. https://go.usa.gov/x6KYj
- FDA issued final guidance on an action level of 100ppb for inorganic arsenic in infant rice cereal in 8/2020. Historically, we have found that action levels are effective tools in helping to lower levels of toxic elements in foods that babies & young children eat.
- FDA’s action plan, Closer to Zero, makes clear that FDA takes the safety of foods eaten by babies & young children seriously. This recall demonstrates the agency’s commitment to work with manufacturers to reduce toxic elements in foods to the lowest levels possible.
@FDAfood
- So, why have serving sizes been updated on the #NewNutritionFactsLabel? They now better reflect the amount people typically eat and drink! http://go.usa.gov/x6b5G
@DrWoodcockFDA
- As part of FDA’s Nutrition Innovation Strategy, we’re working to modernize food standards in a way that maintains the basic nature and nutritional integrity of products while allowing industry flexibility for innovation to produce more healthful foods.
- Today, FDA issued a final rule to amend the standard of identity (SOI) for yogurt. SOIs define what a food product is and include requirements for content and production. https://go.usa.gov/x6Ky3
