- FDA has released a guidance that provides temporary flexibility regarding packaging and labeling of shell eggs sold to consumers by retail food establishments during the #COVID19 pandemic.
- Mitigation is such an important part of our fight against #COVID19. And, there is evidence that our mitigation strategies are working, but we must remain vigilant. Please continue to follow public health guidelines as well as state and local directions to #SlowTheSpread.
- We announced FDA will begin requesting food importers required to provide FDA certain records during onsite inspections to send them electronically instead as the agency shifts to conducting some inspections remotely during #COVID19.
- FDA is extending the comment period for the Laboratory Accreditation for Analyses of Foods proposed rule by an additional 90 days due to the ongoing #COVID19 public health emergency. The comment period will now close July 6, 2020.
- We issued guidance to help expand the availability of general use face masks for the public and particulate filtering facepiece respirators (including N95 respirators) for health care professionals during the #COVID19 pandemic.

- FDA has updated its guidance for use of face coverings in food production and retail food establishments to help slow the spread of #COVID19 based on @CDCgov’s updated recommendation regarding the voluntary use of cloth face coverings. https://www.fda.gov/food/food-safety-during-emergencies/food-safety-and-coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19 …
- If you work on a farm or in food production, processing, or retail settings and choose to wear a cloth face covering to help protect your coworkers, please maintain it according to FDA’s Food Code and if it is reusable, launder it before each daily use.
- It is important to note that cloth face coverings are not surgical masks & N95 respirators, which are critical supplies that should be reserved for our nation’s healthcare workers. For more info on use of face coverings, see @CDCgov’s updated guidance
