  • ·       Today, #FDA & our colleagues in Mexico (@SENASICA@COFEPRIS) memorialized a NEW Food Safety Partnership. Smarter Food Safety requires collaboration. Working together, we’ll further protect consumers in both the U.S. and Mexico. https://go.usa.gov/xG6fx

@FDAfood

  • ·       In the ongoing multistate outbreak of Salmonella Stanley infections linked to wood ear mushrooms imported by Wismettac Asian Foods, @CAPublicHealth determined, through genetic testing, the Samonella present in the samples matched the outbreak strain. https://go.usa.gov/xG6HJ
  • ·       Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. acted quickly upon being notified of the positive test result and recalled all wood ear mushrooms within shelf life on September 23, 2020. These wood ear mushrooms were only sold to restaurants and were not available directly to consumers.
  • ·       Today, @US_FDA held a ceremony commemorating the signing of a Statement of Intent that enhances the Food Safety Partnership between the U.S. & Mexico. The Food Safety Partnership broadens & strengthens the scope of the previous Produce Safety Partnership. https://go.usa.gov/xG6yP
  • ·       The partnership between the FDA, SENASICA, and COFEPRIS embraces the use of new and emerging technologies to strengthen the Participants’ respective technical and predictive capabilities; leverages current food safety programs; and further enhances collaborations.

@SecretarySonny

  • ·       It appears Europe has forgotten the “farm” in “farm to fork.” Putting barriers between the world’s producers and consumers, discouraging innovation needed to increase production, and stifling economic growth is exactly the wrong way to meet the global food challenge.
