@SteveFDA

  • Today, we provided an update on the status of @US_FDA inspections outside of the U.S. in response to the #COVID19 outbreak. https://go.usa.gov/xdHfA
  • After careful consideration, using additional tools to ensure safety of imported products, & keeping in mind the health & safety of our employees, FDA is postponing most foreign inspections through April. Mission-critical inspections will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • We based this decision on factors including @StateDept Level 4 travel advisories prohibiting US government employee travel, @CDCgov travel recommendations, access restrictions on foreign visitors by certain countries, guidance from @USOPM, & the health & safety of our employees.
  • A critical factor in postponing most federal inspections is the confidence we have in our ability to maintain oversight over international manufacturers & imported products using alternative tools & methods during the #coronavirus outbreak.

@SecretarySonny

@FDAfood

  • #OUTBREAK: Sun Hong Foods has recalled all of their enoki #mushrooms imported from Korea as a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes & matched the outbreak strain. Consumers should NOT EAT & throw away any recalled enoki mushrooms. More info: https://go.usa.gov/xdHVv

  • The sale of fraudulent products claiming to treat, cure, or prevent #COVID19 is a threat to the public health, & together with @FTC, we have warned 7 companies for selling products with such claims: https://go.usa.gov/xdsUs
  • There are no approved vaccines or drugs specific for #COVID19. We encourage health care professionals & consumers to report the unlawful sale of or adverse events associated with fraudulent COVID-19 products to FDA on our website: https://go.usa.gov/xd7mX
  • Don’t let bacteria take over your kitchen! Wash kitchen towels frequently on the HOT washing machine cycle to remove any bacteria contaminating your towels.
  • March is National Nutrition Month! Check out FDA’s Education Resource Library for free tools to help you and your loved ones make informed food choices. https://go.usa.gov/xdsRk  #NutritionMonth

@US_FDA

  • As part of the FDA’s commitment to the safety of cosmetic products, we are releasing the testing results from our year-long analysis of talc-containing cosmetic products for the presence of asbestos. https://go.usa.gov/xdsmM

@SecretarySonny

  • I have great affection for school lunch professionals from across this great country. Hearing from the folks @SchoolLunch who are on the front lines in feeding our school children healthy and nutritious food is so valuable.
