  • It was good to join our @USDAForeignAg team today for our first in-person Global Conference since 2019. Our FAS team and their work are key to our goals and priorities, particularly in creating new and better markets, and building back better towards a fairer food system.

  • Today’s investment is critical in supporting our higher education partners and increasing rural prosperity in underserved agricultural communities. By investing in education and development, we are helping the workforce of the future.
  • One of my biggest priorities as Secretary is ensuring the agriculture workforce of the future is equipped to be successful and competitive. Today, @USDA is investing more than $14 million to support workforce training in historically underserved communities to do just that.

@FrankYiannasFDA

  • Launching the Low- or No-Cost Tech-Enabled Traceability Challenge to encourage the development of traceability systems that are cost effective for food operations of all sizes.
  • Continuing to explore the use of artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning, in a pilot designed to strengthen our ability to predict which shipments of imported seafood pose the greatest risk of violation.
  • FDA’s New Era of Smarter Food Safety is leveraging tech and other tools/approaches to create a safer & more digital, traceable food system. Our ultimate goal is clear. It’s to bend the curve of foodborne illness so that consumers can live better lives.
  • Today is the second anniversary of the release of the New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint, which outlines our commitment to continuous modernization to address the ever-changing food system and potential challenges ahead.
