- The FDA plays a critical role in safeguarding the U.S. food supply & helping to ensure that our food is not contaminated at any point during its journey along the supply chain. The insanitary conditions found at the Lyden Spice Corporation are disturbing & won’t be tolerated.
@FrankYiannasFDA
- Yesterday, on behalf of the agency, the @USMarshalsHQ conducted a mass seizure of FDA-regulated spices & food additive products held for sale under insanitary conditions at Lyden Spice Corporation in Miami, Florida. https://fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/federal-officials-seize-spices-and-food-additive-products-held-under-insanitary-conditions-florida
- These food products were exposed to widespread rodent infestation as well as other pests, such as live and dead insects. The products seized included over 25,000 boxes/bags of ready-to-eat spices and food additives, such as monosodium glutamate, crushed red chili & sesame seeds.

@SecVilsak
- [Retweet @USDA] We’re leveraging $100 million for meat and poultry processing and food supply chain infrastructure. These investments will help deliver more opportunities and fairer prices for farmers and address bottlenecks in the food supply chain revealed and exacerbated by the pandemic
- This is another meaningful step in our efforts to act on lessons from COVID-19 to build a food system that is fair, competitive, distributed and resilient where a greater share of the food dollar goes to those growing, harvesting, processing and preparing our food.
@USDAFoodSafety
- FSIS wants to hear from you! FSIS is requesting comments, research data, and other information related to the labeling of meat & poultry made using animal cell culture technology, which will be considered during rulemaking. Provide your input here: https://go.usa.gov/xMxUe
