USDA Announces Its Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement with Hawaii
@USDA
- We’ve partnered with more than 40 states and territories across the country to provide summer food buying benefits to families with children.
- We’re announcing an additional $21.9 million in grants awarded to further strengthen and develop new market opportunities for meat and poultry processors throughout the U.S. https://usda.gov/media/press-releases/2022/08/31/usda-announces-219-million-grants-awarded-further-strengthen-meat
@SecVilsack
- These grants move us toward a more level playing field for small and medium producers and a more balanced, equitable economy for everyone working in food and agriculture. A fairer system means increased farm income, greater value for workers, and more access to affordable food.
- To promote competition and bring down prices, @USDA has launched several programs to expand processing capacity. Through the Meat and Poultry Inspection Readiness Grant Program, today we’re announcing $21.9 million for 111 grant projects.
