USDA Finalizes Voluntary “Product of USA” Label Claim to Enhance Consumer Protection

Special Alert: Constituent Update – March 11, 2024

Statement by Secretary Vilsack on the President’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget

USDA to Host Webinar on Updates to the USDA Harmonized Good Agricultural Practices and GAP Plus+ Audit Standards

  • @USDA finalized the “Product of USA” rule, which aligns the label claim with consumer understanding of what it means to ensure that consumers can trust the authenticity of this label and know that every step involved, from birth to processing, was done here in America.
  • We also shared that @USDA is awarding $9.5 million to 42 projects through the Local Meat Capacity grant program to address critical processing infrastructure needs for livestock and poultry producers, ensuring their products get to the market efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Finally, we also announced new actions under our Farmer Seed Liaison Initiative to boost farmers’ voices in our seed patent system and enforce the disclosure laws on the books as we deliver more and better choices for farmers.
