  • Yesterday, I had a productive meeting with my counterpart & friend, Canada’s Minister of Ag & Agri-Food @L_MacAulay. Not only is Canada a key trading partner, but a partner in tackling climate change, food security, and keeping North American ag on the cutting edge of innovation.
  • .@POTUS & @USDA are committed to reducing hunger & ensuring families have access to nutritious meals. WIC is a critical program that aims to enhance the well-being of mothers, children, & infants to ensure a healthy start in life, & Congress can act now to fully fund the program.

  • Good report by the GAO on the need for FDA to finalize its plans for the Food Traceability Rule. However, FDA can’t do this alone. It will require collaboration and all stakeholders to get started now. Better food traceability can’t wait. https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-24-106563

  • This year marks the 50th Anniversary of WIC, marking an era of undeniably crucial support to millions of Americans. At @USDA, we’re committed to upholding the legacy of WIC and working towards better health and developmental outcomes for women, children, and babies nationwide.
  • WIC is an evidence-based program that leads to better health outcomes for mothers and children – and despite repeated requests from the Biden-Harris Administration, Congress has not committed to fully fund this program.
  • The longer Congress puts off fully funding WIC, the greater the risk to mothers, babies, and children seeking nutrition and health support from the program.
