*Does Conduct Inspections
The Department of Consumer Protection has regulatory oversight over grocery stores, convenience stores and ther facilities that handle food, but does not permit or routinely inspect them. The Department permits and inspects vending machines, vending machine commissaries, bakeries, ice cream trucks, and retail ice cream operations. Their other inspections are limited to "for cause" or new business inspections, otherwise they use local agency inspection reports to verify compliance.

The Department of Health delegates inspection authority to local jurisdictions who enforce the state's food code at retail food establishments within their jurisdiction.
