With the exception of retail facilities with the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Anchorage, the state is responsible for permitting and inspecting all retail food facilities within the State of Alaska. The state does not inspect within the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Anchorage unless their assistance is requested. Retail operations within the City of Anchorage that are affiliated with a processing facility will be covered by the State of Alaska.
