11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. EST
Session 1
Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance for Food Safety
Summary: The increased concern around antimicrobial resistance (AMR) globally has led to some interesting challenges for oversight both domestically and internationally. This series of speakers will introduce and discuss the National Antimicrobial Monitoring System (NARMS) and provide some examples of its application in monitoring and evaluating the risk of AMR while maintaining a safe human and animal food supply chain.
Speakers
- Dr. Heather Tate, NARMS Science Lead, Office of Applied Science, Center for Veterinary Medicine, FDA
- Dr. Heather Harbottle, Senior Regulatory Microbiology Reviewer at FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, Office of New Drug Evaluation, in the Division of Human Food Safety, FDA
Session 2
Regulatory & Industry Challenges: PFAS in Food, Beverage, and Consumer Products
Summary: In this session, speakers will discuss some of the ongoing challenges with PFAS both from the regulatory and global industry perspectives. Speakers will discuss analysis and sampling challenges for regulatory applications as well as practical product development for consumer safety globally.
Speakers
- Dr. Susan Genualdi, Research Chemist, Office of Applied Science, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, FDA
- Dr. Jared Rothstein, Senior Director Regulatory Affairs, Consumer Brands Association
- Taylor Reynolds, PFAS Working Group Lead, Senior Commercial Marketing, Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany/MilliporeSigma
Both sessions will be followed by a short panel-style Q&A. Questions for our speakers or committee may be requested by the audience in advance and submitted to sarah.powell-price@milliporesigma.com by May 11.
