Abstract: The purpose of this presentation is to assist regulators in developing a consistent, shared language for concentration processes, risk assessment, and compliance within the cannabis extraction industry. By clarifying terminology and connecting technical concepts to everyday experiences, the seminar aims to bridge gaps between isolated technical instruction and the broader regulatory framework. It connects common language with the correct, chemistry-based definitions.
Concentration processes in cannabis manufacturing are typically taught as standalone technical subjects. This approach often overlooks the everyday extraction experiences people already understand, as well as the regulatory environment governing consumer products. The seminar introduces a framework that utilizes familiar natural products as conceptual bridges, making the technical aspects more accessible and relevant to regulators.
The framework differentiates between extraction and separation, providing clarity around each process. It introduces unique pedagogical terms—“Separaction” and “Extraporation”—to facilitate understanding. These concepts are integrated with regulatory expectations, including quality control, safety protocols, documentation requirements, and personnel practices.
