This webinar will cover topics such as what Vibrio is and why it is harmful to humans, presented by Dr. Chengchu “Cathy” Liu, Seafood Safety and Technology Specialist at the University of Maryland, Maryland Sea Grant Extension Program. Valerie Wunderly from the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries will discuss the role of shellfish sanitation programs in preventing shellfish-borne illnesses. Barry Nash from North Carolina Sea Grant will cover handling and cooking raw shellfish, and Molly Fullwood, a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the Carteret County Health Department, will address the public-health response to foodborne illness complaints.
