The AFDO Food Recovery Committee unites government regulators, industry officials, and other interested individuals to provide a forum to discuss and identify strategies that can be taken to prevent and divert wasted food.

Committee Charges
Charge 1
Work with the FDA and USDA to address food donation barriers that the committee has identified specific to regulated food manufacturing facilities.
Charge 2
Review research data on food donation and food salvage laws collected and determine the best way to provide this information to the AFDO membership and public.
Charge 3
Update the AFDO Food Sorting Guidance and Model Salvage Code.
Charge 4
Review and update, if necessary, the Bulk Repacking of Non-Ready-to-Eat Dry Product for Charitable Distribution Guidance Document.
