Fresh Take Fridays — From ChatGPT and Claude to Codex and CoWork: The Next Step in Putting AI to Work

Start November 20, 2026

Virtual / Live

About

If you primarily use AI to ask questions and get answers in ChatGPT, then you’re only seeing part of what’s possible. This session in AFDO’s Fresh Take Fridays spinoff focused on artificial intelligence and tech introduces the shift to AI harnesses like Codex, working environments where AI can access files, execute code, analyze data, and build and refine useful tools. Through approachable demonstrations relevant to food safety professionals, Thomas Altman will show what changes when you start giving AI work to carry out. You’ll leave with a broader understanding of what AI can accomplish and concrete ideas for moving your own use beyond question-and-answer conversations.

Betty:AI
Thomas Altman, CIO and co-founder of Betty:AI, is a data scientist, association expert and entrepreneur. His first introduction to the world of associations was a decade ago when he took a job implementing AMS solutions right out of graduate school. With a degree in applied statistics and machine learning, he immediately saw a gap in what associations were doing with data and what was possible. He's dedicated his career to changing that and helping associations create data-driven action plans so they can know what needs to be done and know that it's working.
