Abstract: The purpose of this presentation is to highlight the often-overlooked fractions and co-products generated during cannabis extraction and manufacturing. It will address the fate and potential value of waste streams and spent materials, as well as intermediate pre- and post-extraction products that do not appear on dispensary shelves. In addition, the presentation will introduce the concept of ingredient mass balance, demonstrating how tracking inputs and outputs at each unit operation supports product quality, process efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Ultimately, the goal is to help regulators develop a unified language for discussing concentration, risk, and compliance within the cannabis extraction sector. By providing a structured and relatable framework, the presentation fosters better communication and more effective regulatory oversight.
