During Advanced Boot Camp, inspectors will hear live discussions on several topics. This live, virtual training expands on training information for inspectors including understanding food safety plans, how to identify special processes, recognize and shape Food Safety Culture, identify what is a foodborne illness investigation, and much more. This course will include interactive strategies to engage participants. Material is repeated each year for a new audience but day three offers something new each year!
Adam Inman is Assistant Program Manager for Kansas Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Lodging Program. He co-chaired AFDO's Retail Food Committee and Package Labeling Ad-Hoc Committee, served as Council I member for Conference for Food Protection, and chaired the Manufactured Foods Regulatory Program Alliance (2016-2017). He's a 2012-2013 International Food Protection Fellow.

As Conference for Food Protection state delegate and executive board member for nearly 20 years, he's helped develop the current food code.

Luisa F. Castro, PhD, is Assistant Director for Food Safety & Consumer Services Division at Washington State Department of Agriculture. With experience as Policy & Performance Administrator and interim Rapid Response Team Coordinator, she previously managed Agriculture Food Safety Programs at Hawai'i Department of Agriculture and worked at University of Hawai'i campuses.
Steve Mandernach

Steven Mandernach is Executive Director of the Association of Food and Drug Officials since 2018. Previously Bureau Chief for Food and Consumer Safety at Iowa Department of Inspections, he's a past AFDO president and current Laws and Regulations Committee co-chair. He holds a J.D. from Drake University and completed graduate food safety work at Michigan State.
Carrie Rigdon

Carrie Rigdon is Research Director at the Association of Food and Drug Officials, leading data analysis and research initiatives to enhance food safety. Previously managing operations and emergency response at Minnesota Department of Agriculture's Food and Feed Safety Division, she holds a PhD in Environmental Health and MPH in Epidemiology.
