The Association of Food and Drug Officials teamed up with The Harris Poll to better understand consumer knowledge and opinions on food safety topics. Results from the mid-December 2023 survey of 2,000 American adults show that 91% believe food safety inspections for food manufacturers are important in safeguarding the food their families eat.
“The baseline consumer understanding of food safety concepts was encouraging,” says AFDO Executive Director Steven Mandernach. “We know there is more work to do, but the public’s opinion will help regulators focus their work and their efforts to enhance regulations that protect the public.”
