@DrWoodcockFDA
- The safety of leafy greens is a top priority & we are committed to working with stakeholders to protect consumers. We issued the Leafy Green Action Plan last year to foster a more collaborative approach to preventing leafy greens outbreaks & we have updated our plan for 2021.
@FrankYiannasFDA
- Today, we released our investigation report on the Fall 2020 outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 linked to leafy greens. The report includes trends that are key to understanding leafy green outbreaks linked to the California Central Coast growing region https://go.usa.gov/xHr5u
- We recommend that all growers be aware of & consider adjacent land use practices. Increasing awareness around adjacent land use was a specific goal in the Leafy Greens Shiga Toxin-Producing E. coli (STEC) Action Plan released last year. We have also updated this plan for 2021.
- Industry leadership and collaboration among the agricultural community is critical to reducing foodborne illnesses. We are committed to working with all stakeholders to address this significant public health issue and further protect consumers.
