Government, Industry and Academia Join Forces to Ensure the Safety of Our Nation’s Food and Drug Supply
Plano, TX --- The Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) – a non-profit organization comprised of local, state and federal government officials and industry leaders – will hold its 115th Annual Educational Conference at the Marriott Dallas/Plano – Legacy Town Center, Plano, Texas from June 18-22, 2011. The Conference is a forum for delegates from the United States and Canada for discussion of cutting-edge food, drug and medical product safety and security defense initiatives.
Titled “Regulatory Cooperation in 2011 and Beyond – The Road to a Fully Integrated System” the conference will feature keynote addresses by federal and international food safety leaders, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
This year AFDO provides a timely Pre-Conference Workshop to be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, “Dissecting Foodborne Illness Outbreaks: Improving Integration and Communications; Limiting the Scope and Duration”. The Workshop will be sponsored by The International Food Protection Training Institute. The workshop information should assist all concerned in improving food safety and response in the United States.
Food, drug and medical product safety continues to be of national and international significance. The importance spans the world as it has a substantial impact on both public health and economic activity. All consumers expect and deserve a high level of expertise when it comes to food and drug safety. Leading food and drug safety experts will delve into the current issues revolving around the challenges, solutions and safety of global supply chain impacts and security. An FDA Co-Sponsored Drug and Medical Device Forum will run concurrently with the Conference Food Track and will include a panel discussion by the FDA District and Regional Directors reviewing the “Future of Medical Products Regulation”. In addition, the “Streamlining of the FDA Enforcement Process” will be discussed and elaborated on as to how it will affect the states and regulated industry.
The International Food Protection Training Institutes Fellowship research project poster presentations will be on display throughout the Conference. The Fellows are the first-ever graduates of this leadership program.
The Annual AFDO Conference offers attendees the opportunity to learn, contribute and network at one of the nation’s premiere professional educational conferences, and CEU’s are typically available to Conference participants.
