@FDACommissioner

  • ·        Part of FDA’s important work is helping get info out ASAP re: voluntary product recalls, from medical products we give ourselves & pets to foods we eat. Today, we’re taking steps to help minimize consumer exposure to health risks, prevent consumer harm. https://go.usa.gov/xmBg5
  • ·        It’s crucial that companies be prepared in advance for when a recall is initiated. Today’s draft guidance provides industry w/ clear recommendations on ways to prepare, plan, and work with FDA to ensure voluntary recalls are initiated properly and promptly.
  • ·        Today’s guidance reflects the latest step in the agency’s ongoing commitment to working with companies to quickly act to protect consumers from potentially dangerous products and builds upon 18 months of proactive and systematic improvements to the FDA’s recall processes.
  • ·        Today, we are reopening the comment period to allow additional time for the public to submit comments. https://go.usa.gov/xmBCw
  • ·        Ensuring the safety and effectiveness of over-the-counter antiseptic hand wash & rub products is a critical part of the FDA consumer protection mission. These products can help prevent foodborne disease, especially when used by food handlers.
  • ·        To help prevent foodborne disease, OTC antiseptic drug products must be effective and used properly by food handlers. In December, we issued a request for information to get additional data regarding their safety & effectiveness.
