Resolution Number 1:
Awareness of Retiree Activity

Whereas, Retirees have served their organization and AFDO with loyalty and perseverance over an extended period of time, and

Whereas, Retirees have a broad spectrum of skills and interest, and

Whereas, Retirees are often willing to assist organizations when asked, and

Whereas, There is a need to provide incentive for retiree participation, and therefore be it

Resolved, AFDO will provide guidance and leadership to AFDO affiliates by requesting that retirees be identified by each affiliate and asking AFDO members to identify their retiree/alumni status on membership forms, and be it further

Resolved, AFDO will ask each Affiliate to identify an Alumni Committee representative who will be specifically charged with communicating with alumni in the affiliate area, and be it further

Resolved, AFDO will utilize alumni and will encourage Affiliates to utilize alumni to review general issues and rules affecting the Affiliate, and be it further

Resolved, That Affiliates will be asked to encourage retirees to take part in the activities of the Affiliate, and be it further

Resolved, That AFDO will establish a newsletter column dedicated to the issues of retirees/alumni and will ask the Affiliates to do the same thing, and be it further

Resolved, That AFDO encourage a retiree/alumni committee be established by each Affiliate by the close of calendar year 2002, and be it further

Resolved, That AFDO will set aside a specific time at each annual conference to provide information/education to retirees and/or potential retirees, and be it further

Resolved, That the AFDO will set aside a specific time to honor retirees/alumni at each Annual Conference.
