| Resolution Year 2000 Resolution Number 4: Action Taken: This resolution was rejected by the membership, Concerning: AFDO Scholarships
Whereas, For the past several years the Awards Committee has had great difficulty in obtaining candidates for AFDO scholarships due to the restrictions in current policy and bylaws.
Whereas, the current qualifications for AFDO scholarships are unduly restrictive as to obtaining qualified candidates and
Whereas, members of AFDO and their dependents should be encouraged to apply for the scholarships and
Whereas, restrictions for applicants limit them to juniors and seniors in limited fields of food, drug and consumer safety, therefore be it
Resolved, that AFDO change its policy on scholarships to allow a student who is a dependent of a member at any college level in any educational discipline to apply, and be it further
Resolved, that AFDO encourage members and their dependents to apply for the AFDO scholarships, and be it further
Resolved, that a change in the AFDO bylaws be proposed to the members to allow for applications for AFDO scholarships from students in non-degree programs such as Culinary Arts programs at schools not connected to traditional colleges and universities.
